Dairy Free Blueberry Smoothie

Blueberry Smoothie

Ingredients:

We do not use any ice in this recipe but you are welcome to add it if you like it. I personally do not like using ice in my smoothies except for perhaps two to three pieces just to create a colder drinking experience. The yogurt should do the trick of thickening this up to the right consistency. Use more yogurt if not thick enough. You could also choose a vanilla flavored yogurt.

  • one cup fresh or frozen blueberries (any other favorite berry could be substituted like strawberries or raspberries)
  • one cup dairy free plain yogurt
  • 3/4 cup dairy free milk (coconut or almond milk taste best in a smoothie but use your favorite)
  • two tablespoons sweetener (my favorite is raw honey)
  • half teaspoon vanilla extract (leave this out if using a vanilla flavored milk)

Keep the refrigerated or frozen ingredients cold until ready to use. Combine all of the ingredients in the blender and blend until smooth. Serve immediately.

If you are looking for a personal blender this is the one I use. I've used this blender now on for about 20 years. I have had to replace it twice but they are not very expensive in the world of blenders and for a small personal blender, well, I just prefer this one. There are of course many that cost more and may last longer. How often you use a blender will also determine the life of the motor.
